June 28, 2019 – The Georgia Writers Museum, a nonprofit organization and exhibit space that educates the public about the state’s rich literary heritage, will host a one-day celebration of Alice Walker’s 75th birthday on Saturday, July 13, 2019. Walker, who was born in Eatonton, Ga. in 1944, will travel to her hometown for the festivities. Walker is the youngest of eight children was raised by sharecroppers in the small town. The Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winner, Walker has endured a harsh history and challenged all expectations. Hundreds of advocates and artists will join Walker in celebration next month.
